Bayt Al-Athath is a small upholstery workshop in France, making floor majlis for the neighbourhood’s homes to the size of their rooms. People came with the length of the wall written on a piece of paper, and we drew the majlis in front of them and chose the fabric together.
A majlis made for the home
No two rooms are alike, so we draw every majlis to its walls: the number of seats, the seat height, and where the door and windows are. We also make ready pieces in sizes that suit most apartments and villas.
Wood, brass and wool
We work with carpenters who carve teak and walnut and turn mashrabiya, and with craftsmen who hammer and pierce brass, and we choose Sadu-pattern fabrics that stand up to daily sitting and the sun.
A showroom to sit in before you choose
Our showroom in France has complete majlis to sit on and fabrics to touch and take home as swatches. We are open Saturday to Thursday 10:00–22:00 and Friday 14:00–22:00.
